6 Cancer Causing Food You Eat Everyday

READ THIS BEFORE YOU EAT ANYTHING!

Cancer is a serious issue that never gets enough public exposure. This devastating disease takes a huge toll on a person and their loved ones. Mental anguish, emotional exhaustion, financial ruin, spiritual depletion, and physical devastation. Family’s are torn apart, friendships are strained to the breaking point, and career aspirations wither away. These are the life-altering effects of cancer.
Cancer touches every aspect of a person’s life. The exhausting fight against the disease causes such an impact that it’s difficult to explain it to those whose lives have not been altered by cancer. Whether it’s a personal diagnosis or someone close to you is stricken with the disease, cancer will definitely change your life in many tragic ways.

What’s worse is that researchers have no cure looming over the horizon. The best we have to work with is prevention, which is why it’s so important to maintain a clean and healthy lifestyle. But what does that mean for the food you eat? What is safe? What is clean? If the emphasis is on healthy living, then healthy eating is up near the top of the list. The best practice to adopt is to avoid foods known to be linked to cancer.
Some of your favorite foods are actually trying to kill you. Many of the foods you eat every day are known to contain cancer-causing agents called carcinogens. With all the hype around clean and healthy eating, it’s a wonder that this information isn’t more widely known.
We’ll break down six of the worst offenders when it comes to containing known carcinogens and examine what leading experts have to say. Armed with this vital information, you can make informed decisions that will improve your long-term health.

1. CANNED TOMATOES

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention researchers have measured BPA in 93 percent of about 2,500 urine samples from a broad national sample of adults through the NHANES study (Calafat, 2008).

Most people don’t know the chemical makeup of the metal cans their food is stored in. For instance, the can is lined with bisphenol-A, or BPA, which has been proved to affect the genes work inside the brain of rats by NAS. Tomatoes, due to their highly acidic nature, absorb this chemical from the lining and pass it on to you. Be safe and buy fresh organic tomatoes. Not only are they better for you, they taste better too.
There’s even more reason to eat fresh organic tomatoes. According to the American Istitute for Cancer Research, “early research linked tomato consumption and blood levels of lycopene to reduced prostate cancer risk, leading to a focus on the role of tomato consumption and this cancer.”
BPA isn’t only limited to tomatoes. It’s actually found in many common canned foods and household items. Check the labels of cleaning and grooming products thoroughly  to ensure you’re avoiding intentional contact with BPA.

PROCESSED MEATS

Curing meat is an ages-old process that allowed primitive man (and subsequent generations) the ability topreserve meat for long-term storage. Methods included salting, smoking, even fermenting in some cases. While it’s a very helpful tool in any culinary arsenal, how your meats are preserved makes all the difference.
Curing meat isn’t the main problem, processing it chemically is.

Processed meats

Processed meats have such a long shelf life because they are inundated with salts and chemicals. They also contain a lot of sodium nitrate, which may make them look fresh and appetizing for weeks on a shelf, but is actually a well-known carcinogen.
Recently revealed information sheds light on this. According to the University of Wisconsin, “the Federal Food and Drug Administration has known, since at least the early 1970s, that nitrites cause cancer.”
When you want that next sub sandwich, make it yourself with fresh-roasted meats.

3. MICROWAVE POPCORN

According to the Livestrong website, “there is a chemical used in the nonstick coating on the inside of the popcorn bags that decomposes, producing a compound called perfluorooctanoic acid. This chemical has been associated with increased risk of certain cancers, including liver and prostate cancer.”

You might not think popcorn could be dangerous … but it is. Much like canned foods, microwave popcorn bags need special chemical treatments for them to work as well as they do. Actually, the microwave popcorn bags are lined with a carcinogenic chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid, or PFOA. Excessive exposure to PFOA increases your risk for liver, kidney, bladder, pancreas, and testicular cancers.
Air poppers are the best route for the most healthy popcorn. They use no chemicals or radiation, and they allow you to eat the popcorn additive free. Sounds like a good choice to me!

4. POTATO CHIPS

Most junk foods are loaded with other cancer causing substances called trans fats and trans fatty acids. This is because of the oils that are either in the food or that the food is fried in” (naturalon).

Beside being high in fat and calories, which cause obesity and high blood pressure, they’re also loaded with preservatives. It has been shown that a 1 ounce serving of chips every day can cause a 2-pound gain in weight! Besides all that bad news, the high-temperature process used to make chips creates a carcinogen called acrylamide.
Avoid processed junk foods like chips and other high-fat foods.
The safest way to enjoy chips is to make them yourself from fresh potatoes.

5. FARMED SALMON

Levels of 14 toxins were significantly higher in both European and North American farm-raised salmon than in fish caught in the wild” (dailymail).

Fish can be a very healthy food, but farmed salmon should be avoided. The crowded conditions that farmed salmon are forced to live in can have some very adverse effects on their health, which in turn effects yours when you eat it. Sea lice are very common, as are chemical additives to make the flesh look bright and pink. They also contain far less omega-3 and high levels of PCB’s, mercury, and cancer-causing dioxins. Yuck! Don’t forget about GMO’s.
Did you know there’s no accountability on the part of manufacturers and distributors to tell you if their product is GMO or not?
Avoid farmed and always buy fresh-caught wild salmon.

6. HYDROGENATED OILS

Hydrogenated oils, also known as trans fats, are vegetable oils that have been processed by creating a chemical reaction with hydrogen. This solidifies the oils and increases the shelf life of the oil” (BCC)

Hydrogenated oils are vegetable oils that that are chemically extracted from their source. Often these oils are deodorized and colored to look appealing. Vegetable oils are high in Omega–6 fatty acids that may cause heart disease and various cancers, especially skin cancer. Avoid hydrogenated oils to help prevent cancer.
